Soccer Recap: Friday's Win Is Edison's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Edison won the last time they faced Roosevelt and things went their way on Friday too. The Edison Tigers skirted past the Roosevelt Rough Riders 2-1. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Rough Riders are ranked 421st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Elieser Reyes and Anthony Verduzco scored both of Edison's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 33 goals.

Edison is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which somehow still isn't as good as their 13-1-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those nine contests. As for Roosevelt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edison will welcome Madera South at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
