Two dominant guards in Grant Thompson and Luke Coletta are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The KACHEA Wildcats will take on the Chatham HomeSchool Thunder in a tournament on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (KACHEA has four straight victories, Chatham HomeSchool has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Last Friday, everything went KACHEA's way against Appalachian Christian HomeSchool as KACHEA made off with a 69-48 win.

KACHEA's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Coclough, who went 10-for-16 on his way to 23 points and four steals. Coclough is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played. Thompson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 21 points and nine assists.
KACHEA was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Chatham HomeSchool came up short against Fredericksburg V on Tuesday and fell 68-55.
KACHEA will need to focus on slowing down Coletta, one of several Chatham HomeSchool players who made an impact when they last played. He almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Parker Teague, who shot 43% from the field to rack up 14 points.
KACHEA pushed their record up to 19-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points over those games. As for Chatham HomeSchool, their loss dropped their record down to 24-16.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's matchup: KACHEA has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 35.2% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Chatham HomeSchool, though, as they've only made 25.6% of their threes this season. Given KACHEA's sizable advantage in that area, Chatham HomeSchool will need to find a way to close that gap.
KACHEA suffered a grim 60-34 defeat to Chatham HomeSchool when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can KACHEA avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
