Basketball Recap: Whitehall Takes a Loss

Whitehall has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Manistee Chippewas. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Vikings came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Chippewas are ranked 434th).

When it comes to explaining why Whitehall lost on Tuesday, don't look at Camden Thompson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards. The contest was Thompson's 28th in a row with at least 18 points. Corde Anderson was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Whitehall's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 15-5. As for Manistee, their record now sits at 9-10.

Looking ahead, Whitehall will be playing at home against Fremont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Manistee, they will face off against Montague at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
