Football Recap: South Point Pointers vs. Gallia Academy Blue Devils
South Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 49-12 loss at the hands of the Gallia Academy Blue Devils. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pointers of the 28-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.
Braylan Rathburn was nothing short of spectacular for Gallia Academy: he threw for 244 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 49 yards. Those 49 rushing yards gave Rathburn a new career-high. Connor Nichols was another key player, rushing for 96 yards on only five carries.
South Point's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Gallia Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at ten games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-9 record.
As of now, neither South Point nor Gallia Academy have any future games scheduled.
