Recap: Southern Boone Eagles vs. Eldon Mustangs
The Southern Boone Eagles were the 60-53 winner over the Eldon Mustangs when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The match between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Southern Boone falling 69-51. Their defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eldon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sydney Halderman, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The matchup was Halderman's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Mcghay, who scored 21 points.
Southern Boone has fallen quite a ways from their 22-11 record last season and are now at 1-3. As for Eldon, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Southern Boone is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Hickman at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Hickman knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Southern Boone likes a good challenge. Eldon will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Buffalo at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
