Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Liberty Christian Academy

Liberty Christian Academy extended their winning streak (dating back to last season) to five on Thursday, bumping them up to 2-0. They took down the Heritage Academy Warrior 84-65. The Eagles pushed the score to 65-43 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warrior cut but never quite recovered from.

Liberty Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Phoenix Obermann, who shot 55% from the field on his way to 26 points along with seven assists and three steals. The matchup was Obermann's fifth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Meyer, who went 8-for-20 to rack up 22 points and seven boards.

As for Heritage Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with Liberty Christian Academy: they've now lost three in a row.

Heritage Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hayden Backues, who posted 21 points. Another player making a difference was Nick Kespohl, who had 19 points and seven rebounds.

Liberty Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 73-19 victory against Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis on the 14th. As for Heritage Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 87-17 win against Camdenton Christian on the 14th.
