Volleyball Recap: Ithaca Takes a Loss

Ithaca lost against Corning-Painted Post last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Little Red fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 3-2. The Little Red have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Ithaca wouldn't go down easily and took Corning-Painted Post into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-12, 25-22, 18-25, 15-13.

Among those leading the charge was Sydney Layton, who had 13 digs and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last five contests.

Ithaca's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Corning-Painted Post, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-5-1 record this season.

Ithaca has already played their next match (against Corning-Painted Post West), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Corning-Painted Post, they will take on Union-Endicott at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
