Recap: Blackman Blaze vs. Rockvale
The Blackman Blaze's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to the Oakland Patriots on Tuesday. Blackman walked away with a 49-38 victory over Rockvale. The score was all tied up 23-23 at the break, but Blackman was the better team in the second half.
Rockvale's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maritza Wright, who scored 11 points. Wright continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Ayeden Wilkerson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Rockvale struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Blackman's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. As for Rockvale, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
Blackman will head out on the road to challenge Siegel at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Blackman is facing Siegel at the right time seeing as Siegel is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Rockvale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverdale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverdale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Rockvale is ranked 89th).
