Recap: Los Fresnos Falcons vs. Rivera Raiders
A well-balanced attack led the Los Fresnos Falcons over the Rivera Raiders in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Los Fresnos enjoyed a cozy 74-58 victory over Rivera. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Los Fresnos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gio Galvan, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. Galvan has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jj Salazar, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Rivera lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Enrique Torres, who scored 17 points. It was the first time this season that Torres scored 15 or more points. Elias Rodarte was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Los Fresnos has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 27-8 record this season. As for Rivera, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Los Fresnos will take on Weslaco at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Weslaco will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Los Fresnos surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rivera, they will be playing at home against San Benito at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rivera is on a four-game streak of home losses, San Benito a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
