Softball Recap: Frankenmuth Comes Up Short

Frankenmuth dropped their record down to 11-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Millington Cardinals, falling 11-2. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Millington, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.

For Millington's part, Logan Matusik was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kamyrn Blackmer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Frankenmuth will challenge Shepherd on Saturday. As for Millington, they will square off against Garber at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Cardinals' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Dukes have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
