Baseball Recap: Cambridge Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cambridge can now relate to. They lost 8-2 to the Minerva Lions on Friday. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Mason Gregg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Garrett Carpenter was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Cambridge's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Minerva, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

Cambridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Minerva, they will square off against Edison at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
