Softball Recap: Poplar Springs Takes a Loss

Poplar Springs lost against Laurel Hill back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Poplar Springs Atomics lost 23-13 to the Laurel Hill Hoboes. Atomics fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Hoboes since on Tuesday.

Poplar Springs got a massive performance out of Marissa Bollon, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Bollon is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Jada Bollon, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3.

Poplar Springs now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Laurel Hill, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poplar Springs is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Bethlehem at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bethlehem will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Laurel Hill, they are taking a road trip to face off against Rocky Bayou Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Laurel Hill has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
