Basketball Recap: Alex Meinen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coventry over Wadsworth

Coventry fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Wadsworth on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 76-68 to the Wadsworth Grizzlies. The Comets were probably out for revenge after losing 68-56 to them when the teams met back in December of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Coventry lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Alex Meinen, who went 9 of 20 en route to 28 points. Another player making a difference was Kameryn Kennerly, who went 10 for 22 on his way to 26 points.

Even though they lost, Coventry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Coventry's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Wadsworth, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-12.

As for Wadsworth, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-57 defeat against North Royalton on the 31st.
