Warwick has gone 9-1 against Phoebus recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Phantoms at 4:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Warwick came up short against Hampton and fell 4-1. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four match, Phoebus brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They put the hurt on Norcom with a sharp 24-4 win on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Phantoms as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Jacob Moore was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Phoebus: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-15 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Blunt, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Phoebus is 2-1 when Blunt posts two or more runs, but 2-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Josiah (Beaux) Moore, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
Phoebus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Warwick's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Phoebus, their record now sits at 4-16.
Warwick came out on top in a nail-biter against Phoebus in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
