Soccer Recap: Mt. Vernon Wins Going Away Against Vienna/Goreville

Mt. Vernon's match on Monday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. Everything went their way against the Vienna/Goreville Eagles as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

Evie Jetton and Rylee Austin scored all three of Mt. Vernon's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Mt. Vernon pushed their record up to 4-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those three games. As for Vienna/Goreville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coincidentally, Mt. Vernon and Vienna/Goreville will both be playing Carbondale the next time they take the pitch. The Eagles will host the Terriers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rams will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
