Basketball Recap: Maxwell Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Springer, Maxwell was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-61 win over the Raton Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since December 13, 2024.

Raton's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lorenzo Anaya, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. Anaya is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Elliot, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 20 points and three blocks.

Maxwell's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Raton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Coming up, Maxwell will be home for the holidays to greet Loving at 3:15 p.m. on the 20th. Raton and Trinidad will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
