Baseball Game Preview: Vanguard College Prep Vikings vs. Brazos Christian Eagles

The Vanguard College Prep Vikings will face off against the Brazos Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vanguard College Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Brazos Christian will be up against a hot Vanguard College Prep squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand Concordia a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The contest marked the Vikings' most dominant victory of the season.

Richard Brunn made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Vanguard College Prep is undefeated when Brunn allows one or fewer hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Those two stolen bases gave Pegram a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Willeford, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Brazos Christian entered their match against Hill Country Christian School of Austin last Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Eagles fell just short of the Knights by a score of 7-6. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Knights since last Friday.

Vanguard College Prep's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Brazos Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.
