Baseball Game Preview: Capistrano Valley Cougars vs. Trabuco Hills Mustangs

For the second straight game, Capistrano Valley will face off against Trabuco Hills. The Cougars will face off against the Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Capistrano Valley 3.6, Trabuco Hills 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Monday just wasn't the day for Capistrano Valley's offense. They fell just short of Trabuco Hills by a score of 1-0 on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Trabuco Hills' part, the result came thanks to Mike DeFrancesca's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up eight Ks. DeFrancesca has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyler Hill, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

The victory (which was Trabuco Hills' third in a row) raised their record to 18-7-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Capistrano Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13-1.
