Football Recap: Jackson Central Merry Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Jackson Central Merry lost against Huntingdon back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars lost 27-7 to the Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Mustangs are ranked 69th).

This is the second loss in a row for Jackson Central Merry and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Huntingdon, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson Central Merry will venture away from home to take on Milan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 11.8 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Huntingdon, they will square off against Gibson County on Friday. The Mustangs will be up against the Pioneers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
