Basketball Recap: Southwood Knights vs. Northfield Norsemen
Southwood and Northfield squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Southwood had to settle for second. They fell 48-36 to the Northfield Norsemen. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Norsemen earlier this season, when they won 55-41.
Despite the loss, Southwood still got an impressive performance from Bryce Wilcox, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards. That was a full 61.1% of Southwood's points, marking the fifth time in a row Wilcox has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dalton Barney, who scored seven points.
Northfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carter Rodgers, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Rodgers has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Baer, who had 13 points and six rebounds.
Southwood now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Northfield, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-13 record.
