Softball Game Preview: Pittsfield Panthers vs. Farmington Tigers

Pittsfield is a perfect 9-0 against Farmington since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Panthers will host the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Pittsfield's favor as the squad sits on 11 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Farmington has been banged up by 13 consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Pittsfield's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Nute 19-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five games by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Alex Penney was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Pittsfield got a massive performance out of Chelsee Chagnon, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Alivia Lavigne was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, Farmington lost 25-7 to Newmarket on Saturday.

Pittsfield's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Farmington, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Pittsfield took their win against Farmington in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 18-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
