Softball Recap: Auburndale Comes Up Short

Auburndale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Wales Highlanders. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, with their most recent loss being a 13-12 defeat last Friday.

Ailenid Lozada spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Auburndale saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brylyn Miller, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Auburndale's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Lake Wales, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Auburndale will challenge Winter Haven at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lake Wales, they will face off against Sebring at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Highlanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Streaks have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
