Baseball Recap: Treasure Coast Comes Up Short

Treasure Coast came into this matchup off a tough six-run loss last Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the John Carroll Catholic Rams by a score of 5-3 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in February.

Treasure Coast saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Romero, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Romero has become a key player for the Titans: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Michael Brandt was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Treasure Coast is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11. As for John Carroll Catholic, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-9 record.

Coming up, Treasure Coast will be playing in front of their home fans against Port St. Lucie at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Jaguars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.8 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for John Carroll Catholic, they will venture away from home to face off against Martin County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
