Cathedral is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Herron get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Fighting Irish in their matchups with the Achaeans: they've now won five in a row.
Landon Hughes tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025.

At the plate, Tyler Carlos was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Eli Sinsabaugh was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Cathedral always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Herron only posted an OBP of .188.
Meanwhile, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard got the win against Purdue Polytechnic on Saturday by a conclusive 12-1.
Ari Sahm and Eli Hulzebos made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Sahm pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hulzebos tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Sahm also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Indianapolis Bishop Chatard is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 8-11 otherwise. At bat, Sahm went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Hulzebos fired off two home runs and five RBI while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zach McCormack, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Grant Frederick also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Cathedral's win bumped their record up to 19-9-1. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
Everything went Cathedral's way against Indianapolis Bishop Chatard in their previous meeting on May 9th, as Cathedral made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Irish since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
