Baseball Recap: Harrison Hornets vs. Farwell Eagles
Harrison extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-16 in the process. They fell 7-3 to the Farwell Eagles. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Harrison saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Latunski, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Javier Beavers also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
As for Farwell, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.
On Farwell's side, Hunter Edlin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Edlin has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Mason Esterline was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Sholes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
While Harrison had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
