Baseball Game Preview: Miamisburg Vikings vs. Springfield Wildcats

For the second straight game, Miamisburg will face off against Springfield. The Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Miamisburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Springfield a 17-0 shutout on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Miamisburg got a great performance from Reed Warner as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. The Vikings are 3-1 when Warner allows three or fewer earned runs, but 3-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bryce Vaughn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Walker, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Miamisburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Miamisburg's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Springfield, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-7-1 record.
