Softball Recap: Masuk Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Brookfield

Masuk faced Brookfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Panthers fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 3-1. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Julia Bacoulis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Masuk fell to 3-1. As for Brookfield, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Masuk wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-2 victory against New Milford on the 22nd. As for Brookfield, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-0 win against Joel Barlow on the 23rd.
