League recap: Dixie County tops Chiefland to extend winning streak

Adding to the longest winning streak in 1A District 7 this week, Dixie County beat Chiefland 33-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.

Dixie County took down the Indians 33-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kendall Copeland ran for 133 yards during the win.

Union County's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Caleb Cox threw for 146 and 1 touchdown and Isaiah Johnson had 93 yards receiving. On the ground Geordyn Green contributed 137 yards. Green helped Union County's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 29 yards.

Johnson was the best receiver in the league this week as the Fightin' Tigers defeated Williston. Johnson racked up 2 receptions for 93 yards. Green helped Union County's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 29 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Union County's Cox and Princeton Alexander have proven to be a lethal combination. Cox has thrown for 1,318 yards this season, while Alexander has 17 catches for 280 yards. Keith Neal from the Red Devils leads the league in rushing with 930 yards.

Chiefland's Alphonso Timmons is a mere 79 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 126 carries Timmons has accumulated 921 yard this year.

Newberry made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,548 from 4,801.
