Softball Game Preview: Mardela Warriors vs. Smyrna Eagles

The Mardela Warriors will head out to face off against the Smyrna Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mardela will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Smyrna's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Saturday: Mardela hadn't allowed a single run the last eight times they've hit the field. The Warriors walked away with a 3-0 victory over North Dorchester on Wednesday. The three-run effort marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Smyrna faced Polytech in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles fell 7-2 to the Panthers. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Smyrna moved to 4-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Mardela, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
