Softball Recap: Longmeadow Triumphs

After only two runs in their last contest, Longmeadow made sure to put some runs up on the board against Monson on Wednesday. The Lancers walked away with a 14-11 win over the Mustangs. Considering the Lancers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Isabella Blue made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Blue was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexi Winkler, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Carly Metzler was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Longmeadow now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Monson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Longmeadow will venture away from home to square off against Holyoke at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Monson, they will head out to challenge Minnechaug Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
