Softball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

Skyline extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-5. They came up short against the Inman Teutons, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Thunderbirds' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Inman, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.2 runs this season.

For Inman's part, Lyla Levin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Levin has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Inman let Taylor Froese and Ellie Thimmesch run wild. Froese went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple, while Thimmesch went 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple. Those three hits gave Froese a new career-high. Adi Alcala also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

While Skyline had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
