Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Wildcats vs. Tracy Bulldogs

The Franklin Wildcats will square off against the Tracy Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Franklin has three straight wins, Tracy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Wednesday, it was close, but Franklin sidestepped Granite Bay for a 5-4 victory.

Franklin got a great performance from Kyle Pott as he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Franklin let Dylan Minnatee and Kyle Timmons run wild. Minnatee went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Timmons scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Tracy came up short against Pitman on Monday and fell 6-3.

Ryan Torres and Elijah Gutierrez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Torres scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Gutierrez went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Gutierrez has posted since back in March of 2024.

Franklin pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.4 runs. As for Tracy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Franklin came out on top in a nail-biter against Tracy in their previous meeting back in April of 2018, sneaking past 5-4. Does Franklin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tracy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
