Baseball Recap: Hudson Comes Up Short

Hudson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 14-0 to the Nature Coast Tech Sharks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cobras of the 12-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Hudson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Birren, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Birren is becoming a predictor of Hudson's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 0-7 when he doesn't).

Hudson's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Nature Coast Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Hudson will look to defend their home field on Friday against Anclote at 7:00 p.m. Hudson has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Nature Coast Tech, they will take on River Ridge in a tournament on Monday. River Ridge will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Nature Coast Tech surely won't give up without a fight.
