St. Anne-Pacelli gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Newnan Cougars 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Vikings as they're now sitting on five straight dating back to last season.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (103-89) St. Anne-Pacelli actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-20, 12-25, 12-25, 15-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Anne-Pacelli is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Pike County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Newnan, they will head out to face off against Heard County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
