Basketball Recap: Continental Takes a Loss

Continental was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Paulding Panthers and fell 57-19. The Pirates were probably out for revenge after losing 54-14 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Paulding's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tori Schlatter led the charge by putting up eight points along with eight steals and five rebounds. That's the most steals Schlatter has posted since back in December of 2024. Myrriah Manz also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Continental's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Paulding, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Continental and Paulding could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Continental will face off against Wayne Trace at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 598 places (713 vs. 115). Meanwhile, Paulding (ranked 191st) will meet Ottoville (ranked 48th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
