Softball Preview: Clinton Cougars vs. Edgerton Crimson Tide
The Clinton Cougars will head out to square off against the Edgerton Crimson Tide at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Clinton has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Thursday, Clinton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Evansville. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Andie Bell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Clinton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maycee Morris, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Keylee VanderPahl was another, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Edgerton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Jefferson, falling 14-0.
Edgerton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Clinton, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Clinton couldn't quite finish off Edgerton when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
