Baseball Recap: Largo Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Largo won the last time they faced Tarpon Springs and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Largo Packers walked away with a 5-1 win over the Tarpon Springs Spongers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Packers.

Joshua Jackson-Valverde spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Adrian Fumero was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one double.

Largo's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Tarpon Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Largo will host Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Largo's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Pinellas Park's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tarpon Springs, they will be playing at home against Victory Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Victory Christian Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Tarpon Springs surely won't give up without a fight.
