Recap: Heritage Generals vs. Northwest Whitfield Bruins
There's no place like home for The Heritage Generals, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top against Northwest Whitfield by a score of 28-21 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Heritage, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Heritage's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Slaughter, who rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Owens, who picked up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Heritage's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Leading the way was Evan Wingrove and his four sacks.
Several Bruins players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hudson Gray, who picked up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Heritage's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.0 points per game. As for Northwest Whitfield, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Heritage will head out on the road to face off against Sonoraville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sonoraville is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Northwest Whitfield, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Central at 7:30 p.m.
