Baseball Recap: Taylor Wins Going Away Against Dearborn

Taylor had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Dearborn on Tuesday. The Griffins were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Pioneers. The Griffins not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 17-0).

Jaiden Shufeldt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Taylor's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 12-16 when he doesn't). Shufeldt was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Seth Anderson was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colin Cannon, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Taylor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dearborn only posted a batting average of .091.

Taylor's victory bumped their record up to 14-17. As for Dearborn, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season.

As of now, neither Taylor nor Dearborn have any future games scheduled.
