Basketball Recap: Greenfield/Northwestern Takes a Loss

If Greenfield/Northwestern was feeling good fresh off their 63-29 takedown of Barry Western last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 55-54 to the Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Greenfield/Northwestern's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Garrett Costello, who went 10-for-14 to rack up 22 points. Costello continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Talon Albrecht, who posted 11 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Greenfield/Northwestern's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, their record now sits at 15-13.

Greenfield/Northwestern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-45 victory against West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] on the 17th. As for Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 40-33 defeat against Griggsville-Perry on the 18th.
