Baseball Recap: Prospect Gets the Win

Prospect and Lynbrook pushed the score to 19-5 the last time they played Lynbrook, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Panthers skirted past the Vikings 3-1. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Jeremy Wang made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Wang wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alex Dieckman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Prospect hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Prospect's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Lynbrook, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coming up, Prospect will challenge Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lynbrook, they will face off against Fremont at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Vikings' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
