Softball Recap: Wonderful College Prep Academy Comes Up Short

Wonderful College Prep Academy had lost ten straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it 11. They came up short against the Orange Cove Titans, falling 24-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Orange Cove, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games.

For Orange Cove's part, Daisy Regalado made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Regalado has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Danika Del Bosque and Madeline Powers did most of the damage at the plate: Del Bosque went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Powers went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five runs gave Del Bosque a new career-high. Sammie Lopez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wonderful College Prep Academy will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Farmersville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Orange Cove, they will challenge Summit Charter Collegiate Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
