New Richmond has gone 9-1 against Somerset recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Tigers will square off against the Spartans at 12:00 p.m. New Richmond's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Somerset's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

New Richmond's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Menomonie hitters got past them. The Tigers lost 10-3 to the Mustangs on Thursday. The loss was the Tigers' first of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Somerset). They had just enough and edged out Ellsworth 12-11. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Dane Gilewski, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Mason Schmidt, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Somerset kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Having lost for the first time this season, New Richmond fell to 13-1. As for Somerset, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.

Everything went New Richmond's way against Somerset in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as New Richmond made off with a 22-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
