Softball Recap: Thoreau Hawks vs. Navajo Prep Eagles

Thoreau had lost ten straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 8-15 to make it 11. They lost 17-2 to the Navajo Prep Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 on Tuesday.

As for Navajo Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Navajo Prep's part, Shianne Begay made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Begay has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
