Volleyball Recap: Horizon Takes Down Ranked Sunnyslope

Horizon faced Sunnyslope in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Huskies had just enough and edged out the Vikings 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Huskies have posted since September 26th.

Nia Tinsley paced Horizon's offense, picking up 16 kills. Tinsley got some help from Brooklynn McNulty and her 27 assists. Tinsley also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Sienna Markovich, each putting up two.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Easton, who had ten digs and three aces. Another player making a difference was Lilli Schmitt, who had 19 assists and eight digs.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Horizon, bringing their record up to 15-7. As for Sunnyslope, with the defeat, they broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 18-8.

Horizon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Millennium on the 11th. As for Sunnyslope, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Corona del Sol on the 11th.
