Baseball Recap: Midway Vikings vs. Appleton City Bulldogs
Midway had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 2-6 to make it four. They fell just short of the Appleton City Bulldogs by a score of 10-9. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
As for Appleton City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games.
For Appleton City's part, Beau Brownsberger was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. Brownsberger was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Appleton City is undefeated when Brownsberger posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Camden Flagg was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
