Basketball Game Preview: Morrice Orioles vs. Ovid-Elsie Marauders

Having just played yesterday, the Morrice Orioles will get right back to it and host the Ovid-Elsie Marauders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Morrice has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight losses, while Ovid-Elsie will come in with seven straight victories.

On Tuesday, Morrice took a blow against International Academy, falling 60-29. While losing is never fun, the Orioles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 665th, while the Phoenix are ranked 177th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ovid-Elsie). They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Lakeville 73-27. The Marauders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 27 points or more this season.

Morrice's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Ovid-Elsie, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Morrice came up short against Ovid-Elsie in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 43-33. Can Morrice avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
