Basketball Recap: Bedford North Lawrence Comes Up Short

Bedford North Lawrence was the 51-39 winner over Evansville Central when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Bedford North Lawrence Stars took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evansville Central Bears on Thursday. The Stars' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

It was another big night for Madalynn Shirley, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 13 rebounds for Evansville Central. That makes it four consecutive games in which Shirley has scored at least a third of Evansville Central's points. Another player making a difference was Mya Skelton, who posted five points.

Bedford North Lawrence's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Evansville Central, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.

Bedford North Lawrence will head out to face off against Evansville North at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Evansville Central, they will welcome Southridge at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Evansville Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season.
