Coudersport is a perfect 7-0 against Port Allegany since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Falcons will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Gators at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Coudersport will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Galeton last Monday. The Falcons blew past the Tigers 16-1. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Hannah Fleniken made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Fleniken was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Ella Wahlers was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Alexis Sanderson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Port Allegany got the win against Kane on Friday by a conclusive 18-8. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Like Coudersport, Port Allegany also got a great game from a two-way player: Bria Wilcox. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Wilcox has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gianna Glasgow, who went 4-for-5 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alayna McKervey, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.
Port Allegany kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Port Allegany's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Coudersport, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Everything went Coudersport's way against Port Allegany in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Coudersport made off with a 26-12 win. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Gators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
