Basketball Recap: Charlotte Catholic Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

After losing to Chambers the last time they met, Charlotte Catholic decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Charlotte Catholic Cougars strolled past the Chambers Cougars with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 54-36. Given Charlotte Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Chambers is ranked 346th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Maggie Kernodle continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 of 15 on her way to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Shea, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points and six boards.

Charlotte Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Charlotte Catholic pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Chambers, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Charlotte Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-23 victory against Providence on the 24th. Chambers has also already played their next game, a 47-16 win against West Mecklenburg on the 24th.
